It's Not Just About Being Thin

Too often, in my opinion, the focus of losing weight is to look good, but as this article shows, there is so much more at stake: http://www.livescience.com/health/090825-obese-brain.html

On top of diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, it now turns out that being overweight can lead to brain degeneration.

That why I think it's so important to change not just your own eating habits, but the habits of your entire family. Of course one reason is to make it easier for you to stay the course, but beyond that, I don't want my anyone in my family to suffer the health consequences that being overweight brings on.

  1. Yes, I saw that. Cheery, isn't it? Maybe not that surprising, as I would expect a cholesterol/plaque/white matter disease connection. As with anything I have run into slender old people whose brains are shot and fat ones who are quite sharp, so all is not necessarily lost.

  2. I totally agree, as I have started to healthy eating with my 5 year old. He didn't want to eat his fruit loops because its not "healthy".
I think getting him to start making good choices early with save his life.
