Want to Lose 5 Pounds a Year?

Push for an 18% tax on soda and pizza: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100308/hl_nm/us_food_tax

According to research an 18% tax on soda and pizza can lower adults' intake enough to lower their weight by an average of 5 pounds a year.

Makes sense to me.

  1. Soda yes, pizza no. Candy and poptarts, yes. But we'd have get somebody to agree that poptarts are not a "smart choice" because they injected some fiber and reduced the fat.

  2. I agree with Larkspur. I think pizza can be a smarter choice, though obviously not all is. I tend to agree with Michael Pollan: if it's something you can buy at a gas station, it's (usually) not a smart choice. That's the food that should be taxed.

  3. I'm Italian, so taxing pizza isn't my first choice. Frozen pizza I'm all for taxing but not a fresh pie from a good pizzeria.

  4. I am curious to find out what blog system you happen to be using?
I'm having some small security issues with my latest blog and I'd like to find something more safe.
    Do you have any solutions?
