I Hate Daylight Savings Time

I absolutely loathe Daylight Savings Time. Since I have to get out of bed between 5:15 and 6 to get the kids ready for school, exercise etc. it means I have to wake up for a big chunk of the year in the dark, which is miserable. It was finally getting to the point when there was some light in the morning when BANG, DST starts and its pitch black again.

My poor kids don't want to get out of bed either. "Mommy it's still dark outside!!" My daughter argues. "Yes, I know sweetheart," I tell her, "but the government thinks that somehow this saves energy."

When my son's bus comes at 6:50 it's still dark.

I've been in a fog for the last two days because I'm losing sleep in the morning, and my work-outs have not been as vigorous because I want a nap.

I hate Daylight Savings Time. Could we at least go back to the old schedule where it didn't start until May?

  1. It's only because you live in the Eastern Time Zone. In the Central Time Zone it's not bad. I used to be in Central, now in Eastern and I don't like it either! On the other hand, I hate Central Standard Time in the fall/winter. It starts getting dark about 4:30 PM, but it IS lighter in the morning.

I've never been able to wrap my brain around the idea that this saves energy.
