A Most Excellent Hike

Now that the kids are finally back in school, my hiking buddy and I finally got our schedules co-ordinated and we hiked for close to two hours this morning.

The weather is absolutely beautiful--perfect for hiking. My friend and I, who have been able to get together all summer, caught up on everything from our kids' lives, our health and detox efforts to new recipes and restaurants to try.

I also managed to burn quite a few calories. Using the calories burned calculator found here: http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc I found out that I burned 604 calories on my morning hike.

Exercise and camaraderie. You really can't beat it.


  1. I love hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I go with my dad or one of my kids. Bonding + outdoor time + calorie chewing.

  2. I'd like to hike the entire Appalachian Trail one of these days. Not all at once, but in stages.

    Another fantasy hike/walk is to spend six weeks or so walking the pilgrmage trail from France through Northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela.
