It Was Worth "Ruining" my Body

I love and adore my children. However, as any woman who has ever experienced child-birth can tell you, your body is never the same afterwards. Still, when I'm with my children it would never occur to me to think that having a better body was more worthwhile then having them.

I'm all for eating healthy, exercising and having the best body we possibly can, but to be so vain as to deny yourself one of life's greatest joys just to preserve your body is taking it a step too far.

Now, I understand that some people just don't want to have children, and I respect that. Having children is a tremendous responsibility, and not one to take lightly if you feel you're not up to it. Hell, I won't get a dog because I don't want the responsibility.

But, to say you don't want children only to preserve your body, is another matter. I hope Ms. Michaels eventually rethinks her priorities.

  1. I agree. It's funny, though. If she had said, "I'm not ready for children, I'm focussing on my career right now," no one would have bat an eyelash.

  2. I think I'd find it easier to deal with her saying, "I don't want children" or "I"m not ready for children." No matter what her reason, though, better that she make the decision than to get pregnant and be resentful.

  3. I read that elsewhere and found it quite neurotic. If a bodybuilder gets so big he can't put his arms down, we laugh at him. If a woman's physique is too precious to risk in childbearing, she's got issues. I was not a big Jillian follower before this but now I am even more turned off.

  4. I think you'll find that Jillian Michaels was misquoted by the press (as so often happens) and she has her own very personal reasons for not wanting children that actually doesn't have to do with ruining her physique.

  5. Good site you have got here.. It's difficult to find good quality writing like yours these days. I seriously appreciate individuals like you! Take care!!
