Because Losing Weight is a Bitch, and Gaining it Takes No Effort at All.
This blog is about losing weight for real. No gimmicks, no fast fixes, and no miracle weight loss stories. You won't read anything about losing 30 pounds in a month, but you will learn about losing weight for real, getting healthy, and changing your whole family's eating habits.

Away we Go!
The family is taking a short jaunt down to Washington, DC, so I won't be blogging for the next few days.
I can't tell you how finding your blog, just a short time ago, has changed my life! I'm am 57 years old, female (you think 45 is a bitch?), 5'3" and recently ballooned up to 152 for the second time!
About eleven or so years ago, when I was in my mid forties, I had gone through this as well. Normally in the 120-30 range, I let myself go completely and one day saw 159 on the scale. I was mortified and determined not to hit the 160 mark. I took immediate control with a Slim Fast regime and spent every one of my lunch hours walking a very hilly terrain around my office, which included 139 stairs. It took about a year, but I got myself down to a not so healthy 113! That gradually leveled out to about 120-125, which I was able to maintain for quite a number of years until about a year or two ago, when I got lazy and empathetic and here I am again!
Much of what you say, I already believe and identify with, so that this blog is really like reading my own advice and has been invaluable to me as the impetus to stay on track again. The articles you research and include and reference to other great blogs have also engaged and enlightened me.
I've incorporated so many of the things you are doing and after a week, I've already gone down to 147, which is sweet, because for about a year, I was maintaining 148 consistently. Red wine has always been my downfall. I now limit it to a glass or two once or twice a week, instead of sharing a bottle at every dinner with my husband.
I started reading your blog from the bottom up. I’m only up to April 2010 but look forward to reading it every day. I find you such an intelligent and common sense writer. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are just the boost I needed to get me off my ass - AGAIN!!

Thanks Sue. This blog is truly a labor of love and it's nice to know my efforts are appreciated.
